Epidemiological Study on HIV/AIDS in Binzhou City from 1994 to 2000

  • In order to analysis the prevalence of HIV/AIDS and the correlative factors in this region, the susceptible cases, the carriers or patients were rurveyed. The first HIV carrier was founded in 1995, and by 2000, 5 HIV carriers and 1 AIDS patient were founded altogether. If the surveyed people took part in the study voluntarily, the HIV positive rate would be relatively lower, but if the surveyed people were coerced, this rate would be relatively higher. The main transmitting route of the disease was by blood before the year of 1996, and after that it was through sexual activities. Most people knew AIDS very poorly, and feared very much, enen discriminated to the HIV carrier and AIDS patients. So these people could not live in their hometown anyway and had to begin their wandering life. They became the floating transmitter of AIDS. At present AIDS was prevalent in parts of the Binzhou city, and would be prevalent in whole city near future. We should take valid measures to promote the management of preventing blood and sexual transmitting.
