A Norovirus caused gastroenteritis outbreak in a nursing home in Guangdong

A norovirus caused gastroenteritis outbreak occurred in a nursing home in Guangdong province,2010. Field investigation found attack rate was higher among the old residents and nurses than among other staff, and higher among the old residents receiving special nursing and full nursing than among the old residents receiving general nursing. Logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of infection increased with the increasing of nursing score. This outbreak was induced by the improper infection control practice of nurses. It is suggested to develop the guideline of infection control and standard care in nursing home in China.
