Abstract: Objective In order to analyze the cost-effect of Dengue fever outbreak control in Zhongshan City in 2002, and to provide the economic basis data for the government to make scientific strategies of Dengue feve prevention and control.Method Using field epidemiological methods to investigate the epidemic characteristics, the control mode, the diagnostic and therapy, the work delay and investigation itself, using comparable analysis methods to analyze the cost-effect. Results (1) The strategy of hygiene department should be responsible for the implement of integrated control measures.(2)The total cost of diagnostic and therapy of the Dengue fever outbreak was 86 770.9 RMB,the average was 3 099 RMB per case.(3)The total of delay work was 15 050 RMB,the average was 537.5 RMB per case.(4)The total cost of investigation was 212 197 RMB,the average was 7 578.5 RMB.(5)The ratio of prevention and control cost of Dengue fever outbreak was 1:14.1.Conclusion The economic analysis showed that the effect of Dengue fever control in Zhongshan city was remarkable and the control mode could be popularized.
