Abstract: Objective The present report wils intended to provide the prevalence of AIDS among prostitute women in Dongguan city，hence，putting forward a scientific basis on which to implement in- tervention and control of AIDS and venereal diseases Methods 103 prostitute women housed in Camp for Women Delinquents of Dongguan City were investigatcd through inquiry one by one and 5ml of ve- nous blood was drawn from each for the detection of HIV and syphilis antibodies. Results Mean age of the 103 women was 22 years old，with the youngest at the age of 16. There were 75 women who had only a level of junior high school education. There were 86 women who were single and 97 of the total were flow population from other provinces. No use or occasional use of condom was found in 71 women.And 7 women had joint use of injection syringe and needles．One woman was detected to have HIV infee-tion and 12 cases had syphilis infection Conclusion. The incidence of AIDS-rehted risk behaviors and venereaI diseases was higher in prostitute women, for whom surveillance of AIDS and venereal diseases should he strengtkened. Active implementation of propaganda and education of venereal diseases and AIDS knowledge is an important strategy to control and prevent spread of the diseases．
