Abstract: Objective The present study was conducted to uncover the underlying problems by comparing and analyzing the quality of direct network reports on pulmonary tuberculosis and those on other notifiable infectious diseases from January to June in 2007 in Taiyuan City for further improvement of the quality.Methods Notifiable infectious disease cases reported in the centers for disease control and prevention and medical institutions in various districts and counties(including blood collection and supply institutions,health quarantine facilities,centers for prevention and control of tuberculosis)from January to June in 2007 were collected fromThe Management System for Reporting Information of Disease Surveillance.a subsystem ofThe Information Systems for Diseases Control and Prevention in China,while pertinent indicators of pulmonary tuberculosis and other notifiable infectious diseases were compared and analyzed.Results Compared with those of notifiable infectious diseases,the quality of reports of pulmonary tuberculosis from January to Jun of the year 2007 in Taiyuan City was poor.Conclusion Improvement of the quality of reports on notifiable infectious diseases,as well as pulmonary tuberculosis,in the first half of 2007 in Taiyuan,should have been expected.Pulmonary tuberculosis is a significant influencing factor to the quality of reports in Taiyuan.
