Abstract:
Objective To learn the risk behaviors and HIV/STDs Prevalence rates among drug-abusing female sex workers(FSWs).Methods FSWs in some district of provincial capital who admitted drug abuse were investigated after the informed consent of HIV testing.Demography and high risk behavioral data were collected while tests for HIV,HBV,HCV and syphilis were conducted in venous blood samples. Results The 102 investigated FSWs were at the average age of 26.7 as their first sexual transaction at 20.8 and the first drug abuse at 20.9,averagely.For all the respondents, the proportion of using condom at the latest commercial sex was 41.6%.In the last month,16.7% of respondents used condoms at every sexual contact, whereas 13.7% of them never did.All FSWs abused heroin,60.8% of which intravenously injected. The proportions of needle-sharing in the last month and during the latest injecting were 62.9% and 32.3%.The infection rate of HIV was 2.0%,HBV 3.9%,HCV 32.4%,and syphilis 18.6%,respectively.53.9% of the FSWs used new-type drugs such as 3,4-methylene dioxymefhamphetamin(MDMA)and/or Ketamine. Conclusion Drug-abusing FSWs,particularly those abused MDMA and/or Ketamine, faced higher risks of STD infections.Surveillance and intervention should be conducted for this group.
