Abstract: Objective The present study was conducted to gain insight into the epidemic and the distributing characteristics of communicable diseases in Chaoyang District of Beijing so as to provide a scientific basis for making up strategies for the prevention and control of communicable diseases. Methods Analysis was made on normal data of epidemic situation from the notifiable communicable disease report system in Chaoyang District, Beijing in 2006. Results A total of 23 125 cases in 23 categories of communicable disease in the year of 2006 were reported in Chaoyang District with an incidence rate of 905.69/lakh, and the main communicable diseases were composed of intestine infectious disease, blood infectious disease. Conclusion Prevention and control of intestinal infectious disease, bloodborne infectious disease are the important and difficult points in the prevention and control in the future. Surveillance and control of virus hepatitis, bacillary dysentery should be reinforced.
