Abstract: Objective　The study was conducted to evaluate the morbidity and mortality of malignant tumors in Taizhou, Zhejiang, 2007, provide the evidence for further management. Methods　The malignant tumors morbidity analysis was performed based on the tumor morbidity database of 2007 by using Excel, the malignant tumors mortality analysis was performed based on the death cause database of 2007 by using Medical Registration System of Death (Version 2002) and Excel. Results　The reported malignant tumors incidence in 2007 was 134.33/lakh, and the adjusted incidence was 259.22/lakh.The incidence rate of males was 1.50 times than that of females, the malignant tumors with the morbidity ranked at top 5 place were lung cancer, gastric cancer, liver cancer, colorectal cancer and esophageal cancer. The reported mortality of malignant tumors was 170.57/lakh, the adjusted rate was 198.27 /lakh, the malignant tumors with the mortality ranked at first 5 place were lung cancer, liver cancer, gastric cancer, colon cancer, rectum /anal cancer and esophageal cancer. Apart from breast and cervical cancer, the mortality of cancers was higher in male than in female. Conclusion　Lung cancer was the malignant tumor with the morbidity and mortality ranked at first place in Taizhou, followed by digestive cancer. Lung cancer has become a major hazard to the life and health of residents in the city. The incidence of malignant tumors is higher in men than in women.
