Abstract: Objective　To investigate the seroprevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and immunity level among the community population in Yuhuan. Methods　Epidemiological survey on the HBV infection was conducted among the residents of Yuhuan by multistage random sampling, and serum-samples were collected for testing. Results　The prevalence rate of HBsAg was 13.46% with the rates of 15.84% among the male and 11.30% among the female, the gender difference had statistical significance. The prevalence rate of anti-HBs and anti-HBC was 60.40% and 30.97% respectively. The seroprevalence of HBsAg increased with the age and was the highest among the medical personnel. Conclusion　Yuhuan county is a highly endemic area of hepatitis B and the seroprevalence of HBV varied among the different population group. It is important to expand the hepatitis B vaccination for the control of HBV infection.
