Abstract: Objective The present study was conducted to get an insight into the correlation between the life quality of aged people in the community and the social support for those, in order to achieve more improvement in their quality of life. Methods A survey was carried out among 1151 aged people in the community of the Urumqi city. Questionnaires covering both the quality of life and the social support they received were filled, and of which the results were analyzed by descriptive correlative methods. Results The aged people in the community are generally enjoying a high quality of life, and also receiving greater social support than average population in China(P0.01). The correlation is significant between the two factors above(r=0.168, P0.01). Conclusion Higher quality of life is closely associated with better social support, thus highlighting the roles which the social support system is playing, and underlining the more effective utility of it.
