Abstract: Objective　The study was conducted to evaluate the changing characteristics of HIV infections and associated behaviors among female sex workers. Methods Since 1995, cross sectional consecutive surveillances on HIV infections and related behaviors were conducted annually among female sex workers in the same places and during the same period of a year. Results　A total of 3630 female sex workers were surveyed, and 8 cases were anti HIV positive with the positive rate of 0-0.80%. A total of 45 cases were confirmed as syphilis with the positive rate of 0-4.91%. 1995-2007, the proportion of female sex workers who used condom in each sex activity increased year by year, the analysis on this trend showed statistically significance (Хsup2/sup＝863.96, IP/I＜0.0001). Conclusion　Relatively low prevalence of HIV infection was found among female sex workers. Intensified health education and promotion of 100% condom use among high risk group are vital for the prevention and control of AIDS.
