Abstract: Objective To understand the measles antibody level in the children under 10 years old in Guilin and provide evidence for measles prevention and control. Methods Serum samples were collected from 488 children in 6 age groups by stratified random sampling to detect measles IgG antibody by ELISA, the antibody level in different age groups were compared. Results The positive rate of measles antibody in the children under 10 years old was 84.51% and the geometric mean titer (GMT) was 1∶708. The positive rates in the age groups of 6 years and 18 months were highest (90.48% and 89.47%). The positive rate in age group of8 months was lowest (56.34%). The highest GMT was 1∶978 in age group of 18 months, and the lowest GMT was 1∶370 in age group of8 months. The positive rate after the first measles immunization was 76.42%, the GMT was 1∶484. The positive rate after the second measles immunization was 88.12%, the GMT was 1∶839. There was no significant difference on measles IgG antibody level between boys and girls. Conclusion Positive rate of measles antibody is not high in children aged less than 8 months in Guilin, sporadic measles case might occur among them. The children from 8 mouths to 10 years old are well immunized. It is necessary to strengthen measles immunization according to the result of surveillance.
