Abstract: Objective To understand the quality of the reporting cards of communicable diseases from medical institutions of Guiyang, Guizhou province and provide evidence for the improvement of communicable disease reporting quality. Methods The survey was conducted in the medical institutions at all levels in Guiyang. Results The complete rate of the reporting cards was 94.51%, the accurate rate was 89.35% and the consistent rate was 83.62% in Guiyang in 2014. The complete rate was lowest at township level, the accurate rate had no level specific difference, and the consistent rate was lowest at county level. The quality of the reporting cards varied among the medical institutions at county (district) level. Conclusion It is necessary to strengthen the management of communicable diseases, standardize the clinical diagnosis record and improve the quality control of communicable disease reporting. Meanwhile, the electronic reporting system is needed to improve or establish in medical institutions at all levels.
