Abstract:
Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) in Bachu county, Xinjiang from 2010–2019 and provide evidence for TB control and prevention.
Methods Descriptive epidemiological method was used to analyze the incidence data of pulmonary TB in Bachu from 2010 to 2019 collected from Infectious Disease Reporting and Information Management System.
Results From 2010–2019, a total of 12 487 pulmonary TB cases were reported in Bachu. In which, 2 523 (20.21%) were etiologic positive. Most pulmonary TB cases were farmers (78.95%). The pulmonary TB cases aged >55 years accounted for 65.38%. The average reported incidence rate was 342.14 cases per 100 000 population during 2010–2019. The rate increased to 535.57 cases per 100 000 population in 2018 and decreased to 275.87 cases per 100 000 population in 2019.
Conclusion From 2010 to 2019, the majority of pulmonary TB cases in Bachu were farmers and people aged >55 years. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the prevention and control of TB in these populations and strengthen the prevention and control of TB in winter.
