Infection status of HIV, hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus and Treponema pallidum and related risk factors among drug users in Wenzhou

合并HBV/HCV、HBV/TP二重感染分别占60.49%和8.64%,HBV/HCV/TP、HIV/HBV/HCV三重感染分别占27.16%和2.47%,HIV/HBV/HCV/TP四重感染占1.23%。

Abstract: Objective To understand the infection status of HIV, hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV) and Treponema pallidum (TP) and related factors among drug users in Wenzhou, and provide evidence for the prevention and control of the diseases. Methods A total of 403 drug users from the compulsory rehabilitation center in Wenzhou were surveyed with anonymous questionnaires and blood samples were collected from them to detect HBsAg and the antibodies to HIV, HCV and TP. Results The positive rates of HIV, HBV, HCV and TP were 0.50%, 16.87%, 55.09% and 9.68% respectively. The co-infection rates of HBV/HCV, HBV/TP, HBV/HCV/TP, HIV/HBV/HCV and HIV/HBV/HCV/TP were 60.49%, 8.64%, 27.16%, 2.47% and 1.23% respectively. Conclusion Drug users are the high risk population to HIV, HBV, HCV and TP infections. It is necessary to strengthen the health education and behavior intervention in this population to reduce the transmission of HIV infection, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and syphilis among them.
