Abstract: Objective To find out the epidemiological characteristics of obesity and overweight in the residents aged 35 years in Wenzhou and related factors. Methods The epidemiological survey was conducted among 13 205 residents selected by multi stage random sampling in 10 counties. Results For the people over 35 years old, the average body mass index (BMI) was 23.08,the average waistline was 80.9 cm and the total prevalence rates of overweight and obesity were 29.8%, 5.9% respectively. The logistic regression analyses indicated that sex, occupation, wine drinking and the frequence of aquatic product and egg consumption and age were the related factors. Conclusion Obesity and overweight were caused by multi factors. Prevention measures and comprehensive intervention should be taken to control the increase of obesity and overweight case.
