A Prevalence Study on Bacterial Vaginosis

  • In order to explore the prevalence rate of bacterial vaginosis (BV) in our country, an investigtion was carried out in 529 women in 1996-1997. The results showed that prevalence rate of BV was 19.1%. There was no statistical significance among the prevalence rates of the women with different age, occupation and educational level (P>0.05). The prevalence rate of women in urban (17.5%) was lower than in rural areas (24.4%).There was no significant association between the prevalence rates of BV and the frequency of sexual intercourse, or method of contraception. It was proposed that BV was a common disease in wonen.
