Quality evaluation on direct network report of notifiable infectious diseases in Liaoning Province in 2005

  • Objective This study was conducted to evaluate the quality of direct network report of infectious disease in Liaoning Province to improve its speed, sensitivity and accuracy. Methods The record cards of infectious disease in Liaoning in 2005 were obtained from Disease Surveillance Reporting and Management System, which is the subsystem of Disease Prevention and Control System of China. The data were analyzed with statistic methods. Results The direct report rate was 77.23% in hospitals at counties and above levels in Liaoning Province, which was mainly from general hospitals, with the report rate of 87.61%.There were unexamined and repeated cards but no unreported cards in this year. The time from diagnosis to examination was 1.62 days. Conclusion There is obvious difference in the quality of examination in cities and counties in Liaoning. The chronic infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and hepatitis B were the main diseases which made influence on the development trends of diseases. So the effective measures must be taken to create applicable disease report standards and criterions. The record quality should be improved and the personnel should be steady. The information quality of epidemic situation report should be evaluated timely in cities and counties. The problems in management of direct network report system should be raised and suggestions proposed.
