Distribution of Amlullarius gigas and its infection status with Angiostrongylus cantonensis in Taizhou city

 • Objective To investigate the distribution of IAmpullarius gigas/I (apple snail) and its infection status with pAngiostrongylus cantonensis/I in Taizhou. Methods Investigation of the distribution of IAmpullarius gigas/I was conducted in all villages of 9 counties (cities/districts) in the city, and the investigation of the infection status of IAmpullarius gigas/I with IAngiostrongylus cantonensis/I was conducted in 5 counties randomly selected. Results IAmpullarius gigas/I distributed in 77 townships (58.89%) with the density decreasing as going north(sup2/sup=38.15, IP/I<0.01); the infection rate with Angiostrongylus cantonensis was 3.35%(25/747), which was higher in coastal area than inland area(sup2/sup=6.60, IP/I<0.01). Conclusion The distribution of IAmpullarius gigas/I was wide in Taizhou, but with low infection rate with IAngiostrongylus cantonesis/I, however, the potential of the incidence of angiostrongyliasis cantonensis still exists.
