Investigation on the direct online report ability of the medical institutions in Nanning city, 2007

Abstract
ObjectiveTo understand the operation status of the direct online report system for notifiable diseases in Nanning city, and provide scientific supports for the infectious disease epidemics management in Nanning city. MethodsThe construction, staff, and operation status of the direct online report system for notifiable diseases in medical institutions of Nanning city were investigated. Analysis of the collected data was carried out by SPSS13.0 software. ResultsUp to the year 2007, a total of 200 medical institutions in Nanning city had been equipped to enable direct online report for infectious diseases, with a fraction of coverage of 99.01%. All the 200 medical institutions were able to report via wide-band. Among the 200 medical institutions, 88.12% (178/202) of them were equipped with computers special for infectious disease report. A total of 263 staffs were responsible for the direct online report in Nanning city, among which 188 were full-time staffs (71.48%). As for the job title, there were 9 staffs with high title, 65 staffs with middle title, 180 staffs with primary title, and 9 staffs with no title. The report staffs were various on their educational background. There were 44 staffs with basic university degree, 129 staffs with associate degree, 85 staffs with associate middle school degree, and 5 staffs with high school degree or below. The specialities of the staffs focus on the following areas: 69 staffs on preventive medicine, 133 staffs on clinical medicine, 43 staffs on nursing, and 19 staffs on other specialities. ConclusionThe operation status of the direct online report system for notifiable diseases in Nanning city is generally good. The constructions, staff disposition, as well as the operation of network have been improved compared with those in the year 2005.
