Epidemiological characteristics of imported malaria in Liuyang, Hunan, 2009-2011

Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics of imported malaria in Liuyang, Hunan province, and prevent evidence for the prevention of secondary malaria cases. Methods Descriptive epidemiological analysis was conducted on the incidence data of imported malaria in Liuyang during 2009-2011. Results A total of 73 imported malaria cases were reported during this period, the average annual incidence was 1.81/lakh. The differences in incidence among different years were statistically significant (PConclusion After the eradication of indigenous malaria, imported malaria cases has become the major potential risk to spread malaria, so the comprehensive prevention and control should be further strengthened.
