Injury death in residents in Jinhua, Zhejiang,2006-2012

Objective To understand the incidence level of injury death in Jinhua from 2006 to 2012 and provide scientific evidence for the prevention and control of injury death. Methods Statistical analysis was conducted on the death data in three surveillance areas in Jinhua during this period. Results From 2006 to 2012,the injury death rate in residents in Jinhua was 76.96/lakh. The injury death rate in males was significantly higher than that in females(91.78/lakh in males and 61.57/lakh in females). The death caused by fall ranked first(22.65/lakh), followed by that by traffic accident(20.63/lakh). Drowning was the first injury death cause in children aged 0-14 years. Traffic accident was the first injury death cause in people aged 15-64 years. Fall was the first injury death cause in people aged65 years. Conclusion Injury has become one of the serious public health problem which poses threat to people's health in Jinhua. Close attention should be paid to the prevention of the injuries caused by fall and traffic accident to reduce injury death rate.
