Sero-epidemiologic survey of index animals of plague in Gongshan, Yunnan

  • Objective To understand the sero-prevalence of plague F1 antibody in the index animals of plague in Gongshan county, Yunnan province and identify whether natural focus of plague exits in this area. Methods The blood samples of the index animals of plague were collected in six natural villages in Gongshan county. Plague F1 antibody were detected by using indirect hemagglutination test (IHA), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), colloidal gold immunochromatography assay (GICA). Results A total of 288 dog serum samples and 5 cat serum samples were detected, in which 8 dog serum samples were positive for F1 antibody in IHA (2.73%). 11 dog serum samples were positive for F1 antibody in ELISA and GICA (3.75%). Eight dog serum samples were positive for F1 antibody in IHA, ELISA and GICA. The positive rate of ELISA was higher than that of IHA (2=7.70, P0.01) and similar to that of GICA. Conclusion Plague F1 antibody was detected in the index animals of plague in Gongshan county, indicating the necessity of further research.
