Molecular characteristic of the first death case of imported ST-3789 serogroup B meningococcal disease in Suzhou

To understand the molecular epidemiological characteristics of the first death case of imported ST-3789 serogroup B meningococcal disease and close contacts in Suzhou. Neisseria meningitis isolation, identification and serotyping were conducted with routine test. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used in the detection of virus nucleic acids. Seven house-keeping genes were analyzed by using multi locus sequence typing (MLST). Nm of 4 N. meningitidis strains belonged to serogroup B. Its sequence type were ST3789. The strains were sensitive to 8 antibiotics, but showed moderate resistant to penicillin, ciprofloxacin, ampicillin and SMZ-TMP.
