  • Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics of hepatitis B in Yunnan province from 2005-2015 and provide evidence for the prevention and control of hepatitis B. Methods The descriptive epidemiological analysis was conducted by using the incidence data of hepatitis B in Yunnan province from 2005-2015, and K-means clustering analysis was performed for the annual average incidence in different areas. Results A total of 261 496 cases of hepatitis B were reported in Yunnan during this period, the average annual incidence was 51.99/100 000. The ratio of male to female was 1.64:1. Most cases were aged 15-59 years (82.66%) and most cases were famers (61.52%).The cases were reported in 16 prefectures (municipality), and the first three prefectures (municipality) reporting high case numbers were Kunming (51 913 cases), Zhaotong (32 738 cases)and Qujing (24 046 cases). The prefectures (municipality) reporting high incidences were Kunming, Lincang and Xishuangbanna, the prefectures reporting moderate incidences were Baoshan, Zhaotong, Lijiang, Wenshan, Nujiang and Diqing, and the prefectures reporting low incidences were Qujing, Yuxi, Puer, Chuxiong, Honghe, Dali and Dehong. Conclusion The incidence of hepatitis B was higher in males than in females in Yunnan from 2005 to 2015. Most cases were young adults and farmers. It is necessary to strengthen the hepatitis B prevention and control in key areas and in populations at high risk.
