Distribution of HPV genotypes in women receiving health examination in Wenzhou

  • Objective To investigate the prevalence of human papillomavirus infection and age specific distribution of human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes in women receiving health examination in Wenzhou and provide evidence for the prevention and treatment of the cervical cancer. Methods A total of 4 089 women receiving health examination in our hospital were selected from June 2014 to May 2016. The women were divided into five age groups, Flow fluorescence hybridization was conducted to detect HPV subtype, the HPV infection rate, genotypes and related age distribution were analyzed. Results Among the 4 089 women, 763 were infected with HPV (18.66%). A total of 27 HPV genotypes were detected. Single and multisubtype infection rates were 14.58% (596/4 089) and 4.08% (167/1 089), respectively. Among multi infections, 78.44% were dual infections (131/167). The high risk and low risk genotype HPV infection rates were 14.06% (575/4 089) and 6.29% (257/4 089), respectively, and the co-infection rates of high risk and low risk genotypes were 1.69% (69/4 089). The most common subtypes in high risk genotype HPV infections were HPV-52 (18.87%), 53 (9.96%), 16 (8.91%), and 58 (8.13%), while low risk genotypes were HPV-81 (7.73%), 61 (6.16%), and 55 (5.77%). There were significant difference in overall positive rate of HPV, multi subtype HPV and high risk genotype HPV infection rates in different age groups (2=18.882, 19.517 and 21.113, all P 0.01). The HPV infection rate tended to increase with age, and the overall HPV positive rate, multi subtype HPV infection rate, high risk genotype HPV infection rate in 59 years old women were higher than those in other age groups. Conclusion The subtype-specific and age-specific distributions of HPV genotypes had an obvious heterogeneity in Wenzhou.
