Epidemiological characteristics of public health Emergencies in Haikou,2004-2015

  • Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of public health emergencies in Haikou,Hainan province,and provide evidence for the public health emergency prevention and control.Methods The incidence data of public health emergencies in Haikou from 2004 to 2015 were collected by using Public Health Emergency Management Information System for the descriptive epidemiological analysis and statistical analysis with software SPSS 17.0.Results From 2004 to 2015,a total of 112 public health emergencies were reported in Haikou and 3 583 people were affected.The average annual attack rate was 1.60%,which was in downward trend (2=293.722,P=0.001).The events were mainly classified as mild ones (67 events,59.82%).The events were mainly communicable disease epidemics (85 events,75.89%).The annual incidence peaks of public health emergencies were during March-June and during September-January.The main places where public health emergencies occurred were schools (86 events,76.79%).Up to 86.62% of the cases were students of primary schools and middle schools.Conclusion In Haikou,public health emergencies were mainly communicable disease epidemics.Schools were the places with high incidence,and thus the prevention and control of communicable diseases in schools should be strengthened.
