Considerations on nosocomial infection control in China in the context of COVID-19 pandemic

  • Hospital is a special public place, and also a key link of some public health emergencies. By improving the nosocomial infection control, disease prevention and control can be further improved, and public health emergencies can be better responded. This paper summarizes the nosocomial infection events and countermeasures since the outbreak of COVID-19 in China, discusses how to improve nosocomial infection control for the better response of public health emergencies, introduces the current situation and deficiency of nosocomial infection prevention and control from the key link of epidemic prevention and control and analyzes the problems existing in entry isolation points and in communities which are closely related to nosocomial infection. From the perspective of public health, it is suggested to further improve the surveillance, early warning and supervision of infectious diseases in hospitals, give full play to the role of hospital sentinel points, and incorporate the nosocomial infection surveillance system into the disease prevention and control system. It is suggested that medical institutions should conduct early and prompt nosocomial infection prevention and control in a regular manner, and coordinate prevention and control between communities and entry isolation points.
