Abstract
Objective The study was conducted to investigate the immunity to epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis(ECM) among high-risk population in Dongyang city. Methods A total of 601 available blood samples randomly collected from 3-to 15-year-old children were tested using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),and a statistical analysis was conducted based on the surveillance results. Results The Group A ECM antibody-positive rate was 93.67% among 3-to 15-year-old healthy teenagers, the geometric mean titers(GMT) being 1∶28.07.There was no statistical difference in relation to the antibody-positive rates or GMT between different age groups. The Group C ECM antibody-positive rate was 83.53%,the GMT being 1∶25.96,with statistical difference in relation to the antibody-positive rates and GMT between different age groups. Conclusion Findings suggested strong immunity to Group A and C ECM among healthy population of Dongyang city.Besides sustained efforts to enhance the conventional vaccination and surveillance for immunization levels, the intensified immunization against ECM should also be focused on.
