Summary of global surveillance data of infectious diseases in June 2026

Abstract
In June 2026, a total of 74 infectious diseases were reported globally, affecting 98 countries and territories. Except for influenza, the top five infectious diseases affecting greatest number of countries and territories were mpox (70), Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) (57), dengue fever (29), measles (29) and chikungunya virus disease (13). The top five infectious diseases with highest case fatality rates were Nipah virus disease (50.00%), Ebola disease (38.69%), Middle East respiratory syndrome (36.59%), Lassa fever (23.97%) and Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (5.29%). The prevalent infectious diseases in Africa were Ebola disease, cholera, yellow fever, Lassa fever, poliomyelitis, mpox and measles, the prevalent infectious diseases in Asia were cholera, poliomyelitis, COVID-19, dengue fever, mpox and measles, the prevalent infectious diseases in America were COVID-19, dengue fever, chikungunya virus disease, mpox and measles, the prevalent infectious diseases in Europe were COVID-19, mpox and measles.
