Abstract:
Kyrgyzstan, a country in central Asia along the Silk Road Economic Belt, has a high incidence of echinococcosis. This paper summarizes the disease burden of echinococcosis (including incidence, crude surgical rate of the patients, the prevalence rate in general population), the risk factors and the age and area specific distributions of the disease, and discusses the current and future prevention and control of echinococcosis in Kyrgyzstan based on the results of literature retrieval to provide basic information for the advocacy of Silk Road Economic Belt initiative and echinococcosis prevention and control in other countries.
