Abstract: Epidemiological survey and laboratory detection were conducted for the first suspected human rabies cases in Panzhihua. The cases didnt receive correct postexposure wound treatment after being bitten by dog, and received neither rabies vaccination nor rabies immune globulin injection; The case had the disease onset 78 days latter, and died due to respiratory and circulatory failures 10 days latter after the onset. The saliva sample was taken from the case and detected to be rabies virus nucleic acid positive.
