Abstract:
Objective To establish a quality control system for schistosomiasis surveillance and evaluate the quality of schistosomiasis surveillance in Hunan province in 2021 based on weighted rank-sum ratio (RSRw) method, and provide evidence for the development of schistosomiasis control strategy.
Methods A total of 12 villages (communities) were randomly sampled from 41 counties (districts) where schistosomiasis was endemic in Hunan. Based on the quality indicator system for schistosomiasis surveillance in Hunan, the quality of schistosomiasis control was comprehensively evaluated by means of laboratory tests and field assessments in surveillance villages by using RSRw method following weight assignments with analytic hierarchy process. The RSRw and RSRw fitting values of each evaluation institution were obtained, and the quality of schistosomiasis surveillance was comprehensively evaluated and its advantages and weaknesses were ranked.
Results The quality of schistosomiasis surveillance in Hunan in 2021 was comprehensively evaluated in terms of organizing agency, capability building, work completion, data reporting/management and quality control byusing weighted rank sum ratio method. According to RSRw fitting value, the comprehensive evaluation results of schistosomiasis surveillance quality in Hunan in 2021 were ranked as three grades: “poor”, “good” and “excellent”, the evaluation results were “excellent” in 2 counties (districts) (>0.630), “good” in 9 counties (districts) (0.417−0.630) , and “poor” in 1 county (<0.417). The highest RSRw value (0.674) was found in Anxiang, with a fitted value of 0.740, and the fitted regression equation was RSRw= ‒0.009+0.106 Probit (adjusted R2=0.875, F=78.151, P<0.05).
Conclusion The comprehensive evaluation system based on RSRw method was successfully applied for the quality evaluation of schistosomiasis surveillance in Hunan in 2021, which would facilitate the further improvement of schistosomiasis surveillance in Hunan .
