Epidemiology of shigellosis in Chaoyang District, Beijing, 2004-2008

ObjectiveTo explore the epidemiological feature and epidemic trend of shigellosis in Chaoyang district of Beijing from 2004 to 2008. MethodsRetrospective analysis was conducted on the data of shigellosis cases reported during this period. ResultsA total of 39 545 shigellosis cases including 5 deaths were reported from 2004 to 2008. The annual average morbidity was 308.02/lakh，and the annual average mortality was 0.05/lakh. ConclusionsThe incidence of shigellosis showed a decline trend from 2004 to 2007 and declined obviously in 2008 in Chaoyang district.
