Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the current status of AIDS infection of the detainees in detention places in Yangquan. MethodsStatistical analysis was conducted on the data of HIV antibody detection for the detainees. ResultsAmong 14 516 detainees, 27 were detected to be HIV positive with a positive rate of 0.19%. Among the positive persons, there were 25 males and 2 females, and the youngest was 19 years old, the oldest was 40 years old. Among these people, 19 had drug abuse history, 2 donated blood in mid-1990s, 1 had the history of drug abuse and promiscuity, 1 had heterosexual contact history, Twenty-six positive persons were from other provinces, Only 1 person was local resident. ConclusionThe level of HIV infection of the detainees in the detention places in Yangquan was relatively low. Infection mainly occurred in drug users from otherprovinces. Effective measures should be taken to enhance the management and education for this population.
