Survey to varicella outbreak in Balikun county, Xinjiang Autonomous Region

To conduct a epidemiological survey to the varicella outbreak occurred in two schools in Balikun county.Descriptive analysis was conducted. A total of 244 varicella cases were reported accumulatively from 24 September to 30 November, 2008, with no death. The attack rate was 6.52%. The outbreak could be regarded as a public health emergency. This was a serious epidemic with the longest time of spread and highest number of case in recent 10 years in Balikun.
