Epidemiological Study on Relationshio Between Sm oking and Respiratory System Diseases

  • The study was carried out in 2568 retired army senior cadres divided into smoking group(1750) and non-smoking grour(818),who inhabited in 26 cadre sanatoriums with similar dietary,living,and environmental condition.the results showed that the prevalence rates of chronic bronchitis,pulmonary emphysema,pulmonary heart disease,lung caner were higher in smoking group than in non-smoking group,P<0.005,RR2.The prevalence rates of respiatory system diseases increased along with the nunber of cigarette inhaled in.It was suggested that smoking should be prohibited in order to reduce these diseases.
