Surveillance on neonatal adverse outcomes were performed in rural area of Zhangye district in Gansu province．The results showed that the neonatal mortality rate was 34.9，and 89.7％of neonatal deaths were classified as neonatal early period deaths(0 to 7 days)．The neonatal disease incidence rate was 13.2，and the insufficient weight-gain rate was 29.3％．
