Early Diagnosis of Leptospirosis by Using Immuno Gold Silver Staining and Reflection Contrast Microscopy

  • 73 blood samples collected from patients were detected by immuno Gold Silver Staining and Reflection Contrast Microscopy (IGSS/RCM).9 of these samples were positive by IGSS/RCM.Positive rate was 12.3%.Of 45 amples from those patients ,their onset dates were within 3 days,8 samples were positive and positive rate was 17.8% by IGSS/RCM.There was no difference between the rates by using this mothod and blood culture method, but was higher than Microscopy Agglutination Test(MAT).The authors suggested that IGSS/RCM was an ideal method for early diagnosis of Leptospirosis. In contrast with culture and MAT,it was simple, rapid and sensitive.
