An Analysis of Surveillance on Pregnant and Lying-in Women Death in Henan Province 1996

The data obtained from 17 selected points of Henan Province Showed that the mean rate of pregnant and lying-in women in 1996 was 80.12 per 100000,which decreased by 20.01% compared with the result in 1990.There was some disparity between this rate and the goal to reduce 25% in 5 years.The above rate in raral area was 102.59 Per 100000 which was higher than that in urban area 25.79 Per 100000.In order of the causes of pregnant and lying-in women death were as follows:hemorrhage,pregnancy induced hypertension,puerperal infections and etc.Compared with 1990,the mortality rate and constitute ratio caused by hemorrhage were decteased obviously,while the deaths caused by pre - eclampsia and eclampsia were increased.The results obtained from this investigation provided soma scientific basis for making effective measares to control these kinds of deatha of women. The authors suggested that the hospitalization delivery,good professional skills of primary obstetrics training course and etc should be strengthened.
