Evaluation on the Safety and Efficacy of Inactivated Influenza Vaccine (VAXIGRIP)

  • In order to study the safety and efficacy of inactivated influenza vaccine (Vaxigrip),50 elders over 60 of age ,50 adults 18 to 40 of age and 50 children 3 to 6 of age were injected completed doses in 1996.The general and local side post vaccination reactions were observed for three days after immunization. The infuenza HI antibody was determined by hemagglutination inhibition test before and after immunization. The results showed that, the post vaccination reactions were slight, the rate was 4.0%(6/150).There was on severe reaction in recipients. The seroconversion rates of HI antibody were 87.7%(H3N2),88.4%(H1H1)and 81.6%(B)respectively.The geometric mean titres (GMT) three weeks after injection were 1:71.09(H3H2),1:102.61(H1H1) and 1:30.57(B).The results suggested that this vaccine was safety and effective for human use.
