A study on Phagetyping of Salmonella Typhi Strains Collected from 14 Provinces in China

3228 strains of S.typhi collected from 14 provinces were identified by using 96type ViⅡ phage.In total,thirty six types were found and the typing rate was 87.11%.The M1 was the main type and was about 38.88% of the total strains.It was found that M1 type has caused outbreaks of typhoid fever in Guizhou,Jiangsu,Henan,Hubei and Zhejiang provinces.The distributions of A,B1 and D2 types were wilder than that of others.Five types of them were firstly isolated in China.The data provided scientific basis for tracing sources of infection,searching factors of transmission and taking correct preventive measures in control of typhoid fever.
