Analysis on the Epidemiological Data of 141 Drug Users in a Frontier Area

Questionnaire was adopted to investigate the epidemiological characterstics of drug users. The result showed that most of the 141 drug users were between age of 16 to 36 with a mean of 23.7. The earlist age of initiating drug user was 13 years old for male and 16 for female with an average of 21.1. Majority of them were local people(58.2%,82/141). All were HIV-ab negative while 16 were found syphilis positve (11.4%,16/141). Of all drug usres 35 were female with a positive rate of 37.1%(13/35) and 106 were male with a positive rate of 2.8%(3/106) indicating an marked difference between them (X2=30.79,P<0.01). Of the 13 female syphilis cases 11 were unmarried (84.6%). Related factors such as age educational level,job,history and method of drug abuse as well as extramarital sexual intercourse were analyzied.
