An Epidemiological Study on Relationship BetweenSmoking and Chronic Bronchitis

The prevalence rates of chronic bronchitis were studied in smoking group (1750) and nonsmoking group (818) in 2568 retired army senior cadres resided in 26 cadre sanatoriums with similar dietary,living,and environmental condition.The results showed that the prevalence rates of chronic bronchitis were higher in smoking group than in nonsmoking group,P2.The prevalence rate of chronic bronchitis was also increased among patients who smoked more or for a longer time.It was suggested that smoking should be prohibited in order to reduce chronic bronchi-tis.
