A Prospective Study on Post-transfusion Hepatits G

  • To investigate the morbidity rate of post-transfusion Hepatitis G,we followed up 102 transfused patients in hospital for 12 months with a prospective study method from Feb,1997.In all of 113 blood samples provided by 113 blood donors, abnormal simple ALT rate was 3.5%(4/113). Anti-HGV positive rate was 8.9%(10/113). Anti-HCV positive rate was 3.5%(4/113).Ten of 102 patients were transfused by anti-HGV positive blood, 4 of them were infected with HGV and 2 patients were PT-HG.The infection rate of HGV after transfusion was 3.8%(4/102).The incubation time of PT-HG was 38-62 days, average 45 days.Anti-HGV could be detected since 38 days to 96 days after transfussion, average 63.5 days. The incidence rate of PT-HC was 4.9%(5/102).Of 5 patients 4 were transfused by anti-HC positive blood and 1 was transfused by simple ALT abnormal blood. It was proved that HGV could be transmitted by transfusion and formed a chronic virus carrier.
