Survey of Underreporting Cases in STD Sentinel Surveillance System

  • To assess the quality of STD sentinel surveillance system, survey of underreporting cases was conduced annually in last six years. There were 168 995 STD cases surveyed by reviewing medical records, but 12 888(7.63%) cases were underreported. The proportion of NGU underreporting cases was the highest among all STDs. The phenomenon in private and military hospitals was worse than in other facilities. However, strengthening the management in STD sentinel surveillance system could reduced the proportion of underreporting cases.
