One-year Follow-up of “Chinese Quit and Win 1998”

  • An investigation was held in May 1999(one year after the contest) in order to evaluate the effect of “Chinese Quit and Win 1998”. 1 796 eligible questionnaires were received by telephone of face-to-face interview from 6 cities. The quit rate was 44.7% at the end of 1 year of the contest.Factors “quit during one month of the contest ”and“my aim is to quit completely”had the most effect to the quitting in future, Ors were 11.74 and 8.11 respectively.“The contest has help to my quit ”,“my friends or cowor Kers are also trying to quit"and" smoking less than 15 cigarettes per day" had much effect either.The trend of quit was related with his/her education level.There was no obviously effect whether he/she was supported by family,friends or coworkers.By organizing Quit and Win,the positivity of the mass can be mobilized.It also has magnitude significance for smoking control in communties consistently.
