Abstract
In order to provide a scientific basision for prevention from injury, the current status and changing trend of injury deaths in the residents of Xuan Wu district in Beijing were studied Injury mortality and years of potential life lose with different gender and ages were counted with data from Notification System for Deaths in the residents of Xuan Wu District during 1990 through 2000 Residents average injury mortality was 24 31 per 100 000 during the past 11 years, and it was higher in men than that in women.Sex ratio was 1.54.The top four causes of injuries were unex-pected falls,motordrive traffic accidents,suicide and unexpected poisoning.Motordriven traffic accdents was the first death cause in men,it was protruding in the age group of 15-59 years old.Suicide was 99.83 percent above 15 years old. The highest suicide ratio was during the 35-59 years old.Though injure death ranked the sixth in disease death causes,people average life-span lost was first.Injury was an important social prob-lem and must be paid great attention to it.
