Suvery on Syphilis and HIV Prevalence among Drug Users in Lanzhou From 1999 to 2000

In order to understand the syphilis and HIV prevalence of drug users in Lanzhou. Syphilis antibody was screened and confirmed using TRUST and TPPA, respectively. The serum samples were tested for HIV antibody by ELISA and ABBOTT Detemination Assays. Of 2227 drug users, 17 persons were confirmed to be HIV positive, with a rate 0.13%, the positive rate of syphilisa was 11.23%. The positide rate in 2000 was higher than 1999. The positive rate was high among the groups of low-aged, poor educated and jobless. The syphilis and HIV had a same spread way,so it was necessary to test the syphilis and HIV at the same time.
