HIV/AIDS Sentienel Surveillance Analysis in Gansu Province 2000

  • Objective To provide the fresh evidence for prevention policy-maker through analysis of the behavior in of HIV infection of drug users(Dus). Methods According to the program of sentinel surveillance across China, the investigation, sampling and detection of HIV antibody and syphilis were conducted. Results The 5 persons were confirmed to be infected with HIV. The number was twice as that in prerious 5 years. The rates of HIV infection in Dus and intravenous drug users were 0.98% and 6.52%, respectively. The rate of syphilis in Dus was 15.2%,in which female accounted for 41.1%.Conclusion The HIV infection was obviously increased in Gansu province,there was a dangerous trend of the sexual transmission of HIV in Dus.
